The journal Les Cahiers de droit receives annual financial support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture (FRQSC). It also receives ongoing administrative support from the Faculty of Law at Laval University.
Until 2001, the SSHRC decision to renew funding for the journal was forwarded with brief supporting comments. This is no longer the case, but some of the comments made prior to 2001 are worth repeating:
- 1995 renewal: “Taking into account the rigour of the selection process, the quality of the management and content, the style and the reference checking, the journal Les Cahiers de droit is clearly the best legal journal published in French in Canada. Thanks to its articles on the theory of law and its thematic or multidisciplinary issues, the journal has been able to develop its unique features”;
- 1998 renewal: “The committee endorses the comments made by the preceding selection committee. It considers that the journal Les Cahiers de droit remains the best French-language legal journal in Canada”;
- 2001 renewal: “In keeping with the comments made by the previous selection committees, the committee maintains the position that the journal Les Cahiers de droit is the best French-language legal journal in Canada. The journal is well established, well placed in the relevant indices, and has a rigorous article assessment process.”
